Outdoor Safety and Survival

Prepare by:

Always tell someone where you are going and when you will return.

Stick with your planned route.

Always try and have good USGS topographic maps that show land features.  Learn how to use a map and compass before you go into the outdoors.

Telling family members if they find they are lost to find a safe location and stay there.  If they can, have them find an open location that they can be seen from the air, use signal mirror. (practice with it first)

It is easier to find a person that is stationary than someone who is moving through the woods.  Use a whistle this helps save your voice and can aid in scaring animals away.

Packing the following items in a back or fanny pack.
