Bear

Bear

Breed: German Shepherd

Born: 8 July 1994

Handler: Steven Potter

Titles: CGC, TDI

Certification: Wilderness, Disaster, Urban

Bear was not the typical German Shepherd.  He loved everyone, people and dogs alike.  He taught me many things in his brief years with our family.  He never did like to do his stays which cost us in obedience competition.  We never got that third leg for our CD.  He just wanted to be by my side always.  Bear started SAR work when he was two years old and was certified in Urban and Disaster when he was three.  His first and only mission resulted in locating evidence for police.

He was put to sleep a few weeks after that mission, being diagnosed with Spontaneous Pneumothorax.  The night that he passed on, he was surrounded by our teammates.
